The Church's Servant Leaders
God has also gifted Calvary Baptist Church of Lenexa with people that dedicate their time and lives to serving Calvary Baptist Church. The men below were selected and chosen for their willingness to serve and in accordance with 1 Timothy 3. The word "deacon" means "servant." These men lead others through selfless service.

Mark Compton
Mark Compton is originally from Independence, Missouri and has lived in Olathe, Kansas since 1979. He has been married 44 years to his wonderful wife, Debbie. They have two adult children, Stephanie and Michael, and three grandchildren, Emerson, Wyatt, and Annabelle. Mark enjoys reading good books (mostly nonfiction) and working on DIY projects around the house.

Michael Compton
Mike Compton has been a member of Calvary since 2015. He has a wonderful wife, Amy, and three children: Emerson, Wyatt, and Annabelle. He could be described as a jack of all trades and a master of none. He enjoys tinkering, building, 3D printing, and home improvement.

Brent Horn
Brent Horn is originally from the Kansas City area, then he moved to Shawnee in 1978 after retiring from the Air Force. He has been attending Calvary since 1995. He has three grown children and six grandchildren. Brent enjoys working in the yard.

Tim Scribner
Tim Scribner, who is originally from Overland Park, Kansas, has attended Calvary since 2003 and has served as a deacon since 2014. He has celebrated over forty-five years of marriage to his wonderful wife. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Tim spends his spare time working with stained glass and golfing.

Joe Shanafelt
Joe Shanafelt is originally from Oklahoma and has been attending Calvary for over thirty years. He and his wife have two grown children and one grandson, all of whom live out of the state. Joe enjoys fishing and spending time outside, unless it’s cold.
